Sifu Mathew Carver

Sifu Mathew CarverSifu Mathew Carver is a classically trained Martial Artist in the Chinese Traditional method.  Sifu Carver  is a 14th generation descendent of the original Shaolin Temple via the Ng Mui Wing Chun system and has studied and trained in external and internal martial arts for over 20 years with several prestigious masters including Grandmaster Hing-Wo Tsim.  He is a certified instructor of Qi Gong, Tai Chi, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Meditation and Kung Fu by the state of California.  Sifu Carver holds a BA from Loyola Marymount University in Fine Arts. 

In addition to teaching full-time at his own facility in Lake Forest, CA for the past 6 years, Sifu Carver and his staff have pioneered therapeutic Tai Chi and Qi Gong at several well-known and highly respected hospitals, universities and drug/alcohol treatment facilities in Southern California.  Most recently, Sifu Carver has created Phoenix Healing Arts which is a holistic outpatient program for recovering addicts and alcoholics.  His program blends the best of Eastern and Western healing traditions.

Michael Hoffman, M.F.T.

Michael Hoffman, M.F.T.Michael Hoffman is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist specializing in anxiety, addiction and conscious aging.  He holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology with Emphasis on Depth Psychology from the Pacifica Graduate Institute and graduate degrees in English and Education from the University of California at Santa Barbara.  He holds California State Adult Education and Secondary Education instructor licenses and is a former Board Member at Large of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.  He is active in Toastmasters International, the C.G. Jung Club of Orange County, CA and the International Positive Psychology Association.

His books include Life After Rehab:  How to Stay Sober in the Outside World (2008) and Trusting the Process:  The Challenge of Men’s Midlife Individuation (2006).  Hoffman consults and lectures for recovery centers, writes and practices vipassana meditation.
